Bus Station Opens Its Doors to Stray Dogs so They Have a Warm Place to Stay

.

In Curitiba, Brazil, employees at the Barreirinha bus terminal have taken in stray dogs from the bitter cold.

They made beds for the dogs using old tires covered in soft blankets. The three dogs they’ve named Zoinho, Max, and Pitoco are warm, healthy and loved.

Many have fallen in love with the dogs and the employee’s act of kindness including Fabiane Rosa, a local politician and animal lover:

“Congratulations to the terminal staff, everyone understands that these angels are there and have a right to be. So many companies in Curitiba could follow this example, adopting a pet. Of course, it is not ideal, but at least there are those who are looking after them.” Said Rosa

She also encouraged people to report animal abuse and save “these silent, suffering angels”, and added that “these communal dogs have a much more dignified life than some who are victims of maltreatment and neglect, hidden behind the walls.”

Her Facebook post quickly went viral, with numerous people praising the heart-warming act of the bus terminal staff.

Stray dogs are a growing problem worldwide, and apart from issues linked to a lack of space and funds in shelters, stray dogs are also at an increased risk of infections and diseases.

If you have a dog or cat please get them spayed or neutered so that we don’t add to the overwhelming numbers of homeless animals. The old “adopt don’t shop” comes in here as well. Never buy from a breeder when you can adopt from a shelter and save a life.

If you don’t want to commit to an animal or are unsure consider fostering cats or dogs to help take the pressure off of other volunteers and foster parents.

With a group working to make the United States a no-kill shelter nation by 2025 and Delaware already being the first state to meet this goal we are well on our way to making that happen.
